50 Universal Laws

From one of the "woo woo" group meetings I attended, I was graced with a handout which outlined 50 principle universal laws. It was transcribed from an audio tape.

I'm not sure I understand or believe any/all of these. I'm not even sure where I got the handout... But I always end up with these kind of handouts. I have a rather large collection of them and I thought I would share this with you.

1. The Law of Harmony

This law supersedes even the fundamental law of Karma. The Law of Harmony is a supreme potential of balance. The purpose of karma is to obtain harmony. If you throw a rock in a pond, you disturb the harmony of the pond. You were the cause -- and the effect is the splash and the ripples that flow out and back until the harmony is restored. Now similarly, your disharmonious actions flow out into the universe and back upon you lifetime after lifetime until eventually your harmony is restored. So, as you experience your life, you and the entire universe are experiencing the karmic ripples which will eventually result in harmony. Once you have evolved to the position of living an entire lifetime in harmony, you are free of the wheel of incarnation.

I do believe there's a tendency towards balance and harmony in the universe. And I have seen the ripple effect of actions. The thing I'm not so sure of is if there is a direct one-for-one accounting as some are lead to believe. There's also the idea that the disharmonious reactions flowing back are _equal to_ the original disharmonious action. This I find is not exactly measured or true. It doesn't make sense when you take into the account the other 49 laws.

Say in one lifetime you killed a person. The next lifetime that person murders you. Is that an even trade? Does it work like that? I don't think so. Perhaps when you killed them, they were the father of 5 young children (ripples that were also affected) ... and when they kill you, you're without a family and killed during the performance of a criminal act. Is that even? Does it end there? I'm not so sure that would be a restoration of harmony or balance.

What about another type of transgression against another person? Say it was discrimination of some type. And perhaps you come back as a different race/nationality and you're the recipient... What if you don't learn to not hate? What if you're the recipient and then you come back as the oppressor race/nationality...and you don't learn not to hate? And you don't learn compassion from either side of this experience? Is this even? Is balance restored? Or must you repeat the experience in many ways until the learning is achieved?

Here's the entire list of the 50 laws from the handout:
