Sorry about the blank page lately... I've been studying hard (instead of hardly studying). You may notice that the 'pages read' area was finally updated and list of books read has three more additions. This is a good estimate, but not exactly accurate. It doesn't count the half book of Maximum Windows 2000 security that I'm in the middle of reading and the Study Guide that I'm almost done with...
I'm working my way through Chapter 12 (of 15 chapters) tonight. I've been planning to take the Security test on Wednesday, but it's looking more like Friday would be better... It all depends on how much I get through before I go to sleep tonight and how well I do on the practice tests. Then I'll schedule the exam...
I really have to thank all the people who are being so very patient with me. I've been shutting myself off from quite a few activities so I can get these tests knocked out. After all the snow and cold weather, we had a BEAUTIFUL day today -- and it reminded me that the faster I get these tests done, the faster I'll be able to get back to my normal routine. I don't want to miss this summer with dragged out studying...
I've also had the fortunate opportunity to view some security-related video tapes this weekend. There were some that were the most interesting and excellent presentations I've ever seen... The D*I*C*E* man ROCKS!!!
One of the videos pointed out something that I had previously missed...
Are you aware that many countries are using their Intelligence Agencies for corporate espionage? These trained "collectors" are targeting US businesses. The US spends tons of money on R&D and the fruits of those labors are being stolen and used for economic advantage... And we're letting them get away with it...because security is too much of an inconvenience. How inconvenient is it for your competition to rush to market ahead of you with products based on your research? Hmmmm... I guess when they lose enough money, they *might* consider the cost of hiring and retaining security consultants worth it...
It's not a cost to be controlled -- it's a tool to be used to increase productivity.
