Gnothology

As I delve deeper into Numerology, I find some things that aren't right for me now. It's the complexity of the Gnothology chart that is uncomfortable. I'm not exactly sure it needs to be that convoluted.

Yes, there is something in a name. Yes, there's probably a message from yourself to yourself in that name and in your birthdate. YOU chose the time to come out. It should mean something.

And I have seen differences in people due to their name. I have seen differences in myself when my first name is used versus a nickname. People react to you differently and you represent something else when a different name is used. I would like to compare the numbers of my different names and see how they relate to my experiences.

The one thing that the Connolly Book of Numbers leaves out is the origin of the system. On what basis are the consonants separated from the vowels? Why does the full name's number mean this and the consonants mean that? The origins are not discussed, only the "how to" is explained. Perhaps that is enough for some people...

So, I have given myself the task of delineating my complete Gnothology chart. I will follow the instructions and see what comes of it. Then, I will evaluate the results. I know me. I will know if the numbers that pop up for the different areas resonate with the other systems that I have used.

At this point, I can only speculate. I am guessing that the first vowel means something. I am guessing that the first name, nicknames and full names mean something. I am guessing that the birthdate is also an important number in my life.

I can see how the first vowel can mean something. It seems to me that it would be an intonation that would resonate with the person. However, I am wondering if that intonation is different from its designated number. What about the case of Cathy and Kate? The short A is a different sound than the long A. The difference in sound would be important in what it would relate to as a tone. Yet, in numerology, both of those vowels would be equal.

Your full name at birth is "who you are." I would think that the full name, birthdate, or the combination of the two would be a message about who you are meant to be. It would speak to me of an original purpose. Yet, as we see in our lives, sometimes purpose can change as you reach toward a goal. You go to college and your original purpose is to graduate. You start off with a declared "major." After a year or two, your experiences can lead you to find that another field is more interesting to you than the one you first chose. You change your "major." Perhaps the shifts in name represent our goals changing as we experience life?

I would also like to look at the numerology of important dates in my past. I'd like to compare the number of my birthdate with the number of various incidents. I believe that I should choose both drastic and moderate dates along with a variation among pleasant and unpleasant experiences. I have kept a number of journals. This way I can use hindsight to evaluate the system.

More to come as this work progresses...
