A $tring of Perls

As some of you (the sharper-eyed ones) may have noticed, there have been a lot of changes to this blog. Some of the changes are not so visible - like switching to the WAIR plug-in to display my recent study guide... It basically says and does the same thing that the old code did, but is easier for me to update. [Big whoop... who cares?]

Other updates are more noticable - like the Poetry section. No need to rush there...it's all stuff that was on my old site (years ago) and there's no new poetry. In fact, most of it was written over 25 years ago... I'm still working on that section, so you may want to wait -- or bring a pillow so you don't fall over from boredom. I'm running into the same problem that a lot of people before me have run into: the page won't display a new random 5 posts (from that category) without a rebuild. Yeah, I know I could use a cron job to rebuild that page every so many minutes/hours/days...but, that's not what I want to do. I want to put up a button/link that will trigger a rebuild of just that page and send the user to the refreshed page. Sounds simple, right? Well, it's not.

Looking at this, I'm wondering if the true intent of posting my poetry is to give myself data to play with... Hmmm. Maybe so.

Being the security-conscious person that I am... I certainly don't want to put something up there that can be monkeyed with by the casual observer. So the "solution" I came up with necessitates that I create a plug-in.

Okay, so I don't know Perl. I guess that means I'm going to have to LEARN something to create this plug-in. Yeah, I'm going to have to learn a lot. And I guess that means I'm forced to make a trip to B&N this afternoon...oh, the sacrifices! [twist my arm a little more]

I'll let you know if I ever come up with the code for this. Please be patient, it might take a while...

In the meantime...you may want to check out the Comics & Art section. I've posted most of these in one way or another before...but, now they're all organized in one area. Hopefully, there will be more to come on that section soon!
