Well, I went to the testing center this morning. I walked in to find everyone in their coats, heading toward the door. The heater in the building broke. It was about 43 degrees in the testing center.
The test administrator was very nice about it. She did offer me the option of taking the test - if that's what I really wanted to do. Even though everyone else was leaving for the day, she was willing to stay if I wanted to take the test.
It was a tough decision. I felt ready for it. I had already sacrificed a weekend for it. I wanted to get it over with so I could relax a bit this week. I wouldn't have been in the cold for very long...the test is only 120 min. And I'm used to using a computer in the cold -- my coworkers keep the air conditioner on even in the winter. Sometimes I have to go outside (in the snow) to warm up from being in the office. I could handle it.
I looked at the test administrator...she was in her coat and was already shivering. Another two hours and I'd have to thaw her out to get the printout... Nah...it's not worth it. No reason torturing the poor girl when someday I might show up a little late for an exam and need to be on her "good" side.
So we went to the office and called Prometric. She called as the test administrator to report the site being closed (due to heating problems). Then she handed the phone to me so they could take my information to reschedule. We both got lectures on the "proper" way to reschedule -- with a 24 hr advance notice... Yeah...we both knew that. Sheesh. Apparently this is not a reschedule for mere convenience...
The test is now rescheduled for Thursday morning. I hope I can keep all this stuff inside my head until then. [I'm afraid it's going to leak out of my ears in my sleep.] Perhaps it gives me a few more needed nights to go over the notes for the 463rd time...
