As I gaze out the window
Snowflakes light, dainty and delicate
Float down silently and rest on the once soft grass.
Harbingers of the holidays
They quietly send their message of happy times --
Fireplaces with the logs burning bright,
Warm within and cold without
People pairing off to keep warm
Feelings of togetherness and belonging,
Oh! If only it would last.
But, those emotions disappear
With the melting of the snow
As do people from year to year.
Drunk with the company of the present
You'll replenish your holiday glee
Have a drink, let your loved one cuddle in your fold
And have Carols serenade you
Presents under the Christmas tree - not so neatly wrapped
It's so hard to wrap love, it moves around too much.
