The Gift

She sat in the cafe and waited
As her heart dropped out of her mouth
Falling first on the table,
Then to the floor to bleed out the time that passed
Covering the cafeteria red for Christmas.
The shell and the lighter sat on the table
Waiting for their new owner with acid churning inside them,
The girl sat in the cafe
Looking down empty corridors
Like a child waiting for a Santa Claus
That cancelled Christmas without a notice
Wanting him to eat the cookies and enjoy the milk
That sits in the armchair covered with love.
The cookies harden and the milk goes sour
And the little girl sits in the cafe
Bleeding tears.
