At last - I finally listened to good advice -- and took a "Personal Day" (day off) on the day before the test. It was well worth it. [And my co-workers didn't have to deal with me being a pita ...]
I just finished reading CCIE Routing and Switching Third Edition. I read the 1st and 2nd Editions long ago. And then I read the book list. Then the Exam Guide. I learned a long time ago not to count on the Exam Guides to completely cover all the material. Yeah, that would be too easy, wouldn't it? Some of the Exam Guides are too general and just summarize the material. They expect you to already know the technology and they are just there to point out the main ideas. Especially with a test that covers so much ground! So I read that one last - to solidify the material in my head.
Interesting note: This book was read entirely on my computer. The book came with a CD with all the chapters - and I read them in PDF -- even though I had the physical book. I REALLY liked that for studying. When you read a book to 'read' it, I prefer the physical text in my hand. But when you're reading to 'study' the material -- the digital version worked ooooooh so much better. There's never enough room to lay the book down *and* the notepad. With the digital version, you read it on the monitor and the rest of your computer desktop is used for note taking. I found it to be very convenient.
So tomorrow's the Big Day. If I pass, it will be a relief. If I don't, I'll schedule the retest in 5 days. Come Hell or High Water - this has to be completed before April so my CCNP doesn't expire. I've worked hard. I've done my best. Now let's see if I have to do my best longer/more or not. I'm really hoping I pass - I'm looking forward to starting into practicing for the lab.
And it's off to read my notes. I was fortunate enough to finish 40 min before NCIS - so that's my reward for plowing through all this.
