Spanning Tree (General)
If you use the INE Expanded Blueprint link in the "Downloads" container, it will take you to a blog post on the INE site that has the Expanded Blueprint (PDF download is at the bottom of the page). Note that some of the items are hyperlinked. Go there. This was a list of items created by some guys who have multiple CCIEs and years of experience (both Brians are 10yr CCIEs). They are pointing you in the right direction.
Item 1.10 Implement Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) takes you to the Cisco Documentation for Configuring STP. It is under the Catalyst 3560 Switch Software Configuration Guide, Rel 12.2 (50) SE. From seeing that, I went to the latest one in the way Brian McGahan shows you to navigate:
Products | Switches | LAN Switches - Access | Cisco Catalyst 3560 Series Switches
Configuration Guides | Software Configuration Guides | top link (latest release)
This will bring you to the entire Configuration Guide. On the left is a list of chapters - and Configuring STP is listed.
The first part of this chapter should already be familiar. It covers the theory behind the Spanning Tree Protocol. The second part of the chapter covers Configuring Spanning-Tree Features. If it has been a while since you looked over STP material, you might want to flip through the theory part. For lab studies, you will probably want to read through the second part. Since it's in the Documentation, you will not need to memorize the entire chapter - just be familiar with it and know where to find it. But, again, this should already be AK material - something you Already Know.
Note: there is a link for Default Spanning-Tree Configuration!
This was something that I was concerned about not being able to memorize for the exam. However, there is a table in the documentation that lists all the defaults. This is one of the key/favorite words of all the (practice) labs I've seen. It's probably a safe bet that you'll see the word "default" in the real lab somewhere. Remember - you are not taking these devices out of a factory-sealed box. There's no guarantee that any of the interfaces or devices are at their default configuration. This is the same as real life. So remember where you can find default information - it may keep you from losing points - or at least from second-guessing yourself.
