Version 4.1 - 5.1 Cisco Adaptive Security Appliance (ASA)
This is a very large topic. The blueprint breaks it down to 9 subtopics. For this section, I will use the Study Guides that I have along with the Cisco ASA All-in-One Firewall, IPS, Anti-X, and VPN Adaptive Security Appliance book. I read this book while it was still in Rough Cuts (pre-publishing) on Safari. It is a large book - over 1,000 pages. It is also a good chunk of change ($80.00 USD). But this book is definitely worth it. It has been a valuable resource.
One of the things that I think will be helpful is the experience I have had with various versions and configurations of the ASA. As frustrating as it was to deal with 8.2, 8.4 and 9.x in the same environment, at the same time it was good experience. The exam is supposed to be only on 8.2 and 8.4, but I would not discount questions on 9.x. Remember that the blueprint is just a guide and any other information that they want to put on there is all fair game. So it would be wise to know more than what the blueprint outlines. No one is going to listen to you whine if you get questions on 9.x material and that caused you to fail. Just sayin'...
And with that caveat, I will continue onto the first subtopic.
