Reblogger Burp

Well, we've had another Reblogger burp... If you hadn't noticed - Reblogger was tossing errors for about a day or so. Now that it's back up, you can post comments again.

I was lucky. When they finally got it back up and running, all my comments (there weren't many, but they were for ME!) were eventually restored. Tracy wasn't so lucky. Miss Popularity that she is, she got new comments after they got it running and before they could restore the old ones. Perhaps they didn't want to overwrite the new comments, perhaps her comment file corrupted, perhaps... In any event, she lost all her old comments.

So... while Reblogger was down, Tracy and I decided it was time to switch to Greymatter. Of course this is not an easy task. Luckily we have our own domain and the ability to use cgi scripts. It may take a while, but we will eventually make the move to the realm of Greymatter. This means the interface to post entries will be on our own server. This means the blog itself will be on our own server. This means the comments will also be on our own server. Ah...the sweet power of control. Well, it also means that I have to configure it and get it working properly. It also means that we need to configure the templates. Greymatter gives you so much control over every little facet of the blog - which means so many things that need to be configured. And I haven't read the cgi book yet.

And this has to be done 3 times - Time For Your Meds, The 8th Layer, and Blue 702. Three instances of Greymatter. Paths configured 3 times. And 3 templates configured. All these threes! Maybe something special will come out of all this?

*chanting* I only have to configure it one time.
