CGI and Perl

I just finished reading Elizabeth Castro's book on Perl and Cgi - in one sitting. I was disappointed. The book was very good, but once again I underestimated myself and my position on the learning curve. I buzzed through most of it...stuff I already knew. I'll probably hold onto the book for a while - just in case I need a reference (read: I can never let go of any books). I still don't know any more about Perl and CGI than I knew before I read the book. I wish I had read it a long time ago. It's a good primer.

As I read the book, my mind started to wander (like *that's* any new revelation). It wasn't telling me what I wanted to know. It wasn't taking me further. And then I remembered how I learned HTML. View | Source. Ever have one of those "ah-ha" moments? This was one of them.

So now I need to surf the perl script pages and open some scripts and have a look. I also have two other (more advanced) Perl and CGI books. I got them because I wanted to do certain things - and dropped off reading them because I didn't have the base necessary to understand what I was reading. All your base now belong to us. If nothing else, the book helped me to gain the courage to return to those books. It also gave me enough confidence to play around with other people's scripts.

Now to just find something interesting to do with this information...
