Well, I came up with two projects to keep myself busy.
The first project is a big secret. And it's driving me nuts. The project isn't driving me nuts, it's that pesky Netscape incompatibility problem again. I can't get the dang thing to display things the way I want them. Aaaaaarrrrgggghhhh. It works in IE...in Netscape it looks like crap - in huge pieces scattered about the browsing area. So I quit working on that part and started working on the content. It's easier.
The second project I can tell you all about. It's a blog for my mom. It's part of her Christmas present. She always likes when I make her something. So I'm making her a blog. A few years back, we got her a webtv for Mothers' Day. It opened up a whole new world for her and she used it all the time. She was very busy (working full time and taking care of my sick grandma), so the convenience of email (it's there waiting for you whenever you have time) and the availability of online chat gave her a way to have a little social time. It was her respite from the daily grind.
Tracy made her a webpage about a year ago. She was so excited. It gave her a chance to have an "online presence" for her new Internet friends. It's pretty and I think Tracy did a good job of capturing her essence in webpage style. We tried to show her how to update her page and add new things. She hasn't added much since the pages' original creation. I don't think it's beyond her grasp, it just takes a lot more time and effort to learn HTML than my mom wants to put into it. I don't blame her, she's got so many other fish to fry...
So when I found blogging, I thought it would be perfect for her. She has now "graduated" to a PC. My grandma passed away some time ago and I know my mom needs some things to keep her busy. I think it would be good for her. So I'm going to make a blog for her and fix up the template so all she has to do is write and click the publish button. Maybe it was the webtv success...and the webpage compliments... Or maybe it was finding out that my mom took on a second job at Filene's for the Christmas season (to keep busy)... Whatever it was, I decided that making her a blog would be a good thing. I hope I'm right.
