3 Hrs

My computer was offline for 3 hrs today -

No surfing the web, no chathouse rendezvous
My email awaits unchecked and unresponded
Artificial responsibilities disregarded
Anyone else would feel trapped, phoneline usurped

My computer was offline for 3 hrs today -

As you slept, mumbling, breathing heavy, tossing and turning
Your life's shell creeps into your dreams
Often barring you from the slumber you seek
But this morning, my afternoon - you won that fight

My computer was offline for 3 hrs today -

Phone special gifts from the universe timely placed
Incentive programs designed to encourage business
Yes, there is much unfinished business to take care of
So much of each other still yet to be explored

My computer was offline for 3 hrs today -

While you slept on the phone 10,000 miles away
I am the last person you spoke to before falling asleep
And the first person you spoke to upon waking
As I listened like a lover, so that you did not sleep alone
